Wadi (ವಾಡಿ) is a census town in Gulbarga district in the Indian state of Karnataka.The Wadi railway junction is an important railway junction on Indian railways. Trains from metro cities of Mumbai, Bangalore,Hyderabad and Chennai pass through this town. Wadi is home to two cement plants of Associated Cement Company Limited ( ACC ) .The ACC has two cement plants of capacity 2.11 and 2.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).The cement plants are one of the largest in the country. Wadi is also famous for its Limestone mines. Main source of income is ACC, Railway's and Working in Lime Stone Mines. The growth of cement plants(ACC) and railways in the region has brought in people from diverse regions and cultures. Gulbarga, which is around 37 km from wadi is a major educational centre which houses many engineering, medical, management and dental colleges.

As of 2001 India census[2], Wadi had a population of 30,038. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Wadi has an average literacy rate of 54%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 63%, and female literacy is 45%. In Wadi, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Wadi is not really a perfect tourist spot for Travelers but Cement plants are a must to watch as it has both the latest and oldest technologies Implemented.

It has a good number of schools like S.A.C.S, Mahatma Gandhi, Al-Ameen, D.A.V, mini rose,govt high school etc amongst which D.A.V (Dayanand Anglo Vedic) & S.A.C.S (Saint Ambrose Convent School) are prominent in providing High-End Education

Culture and Tradition

As wadi being a diversified Town people follow a lot of different cultures and celebrate religious festivals together and National Holidays ie. 15th August, 26th January are celebrated with full spirits. For the flag hoisting students from D.A.V, S.A.C.S and Security Guards join together for a march and by the end of it the General Manager of ACC Cement plant hoists the flag. The celebration continues in the form of sports events like Running Races, Kabaddi, The Last Contender etc and an award function too comes along to reward excellence of the employees and students of above mentioned schools and Employees. The last best thing about the National Holidays here is "The Annapurna" which is basically a combination of food and Games.
